What we collect and why

When you subscribe to The Folk Memo newsletter, we collect your email address. We use it solely to send you the newsletter and related Grocer Folk content you subscribed to. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.

If you fill out the contact or audit-request form, we also collect your name, brand name, and the advertising platforms you selected. This information is used to respond to your enquiry and is not used for any other purpose.

Newsletter — CASL and CAN-SPAM compliance

Grocer Folk operates under Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and the US CAN-SPAM Act. Every commercial email we send includes a clear identification of the sender, the physical mailing address above, and a one-click unsubscribe link. Subscribing to The Folk Memo requires a confirmed opt-in: you will receive a confirmation email and must click the link before your first issue is sent.

To unsubscribe at any time, click the unsubscribe link in any email from Grocer Folk, or send a request to hello@grocerfolk.com. We will process your request within 10 business days as required by CASL.

Cookies and analytics

Grocerfolk.com uses privacy-friendly analytics to understand how visitors use the site. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

Third-party processors

We use a small number of third-party services to operate the site and newsletter. Each processor receives only the data necessary for its function:

• Beehiiv — newsletter delivery and subscriber management. Your email address is stored and processed on Beehiiv's infrastructure. See Beehiiv's privacy policy.
• Netlify — website hosting. Netlify processes standard web server logs (IP address, browser, pages visited) to serve the site. See Netlify's privacy policy.
• Analytics — we use privacy-friendly analytics that do not use cookies or collect personally identifiable information. No cross-site tracking or advertising profiles are built.

We do not sell or share your personal information with any other third parties.

Data retention

Newsletter subscriber data is retained while your subscription is active and for 30 days following an unsubscribe request. Contact form submissions are retained for 12 months and then deleted.
